McKenzie Method Assessment and Treatment
Carolina Pure Wellness provides Therapeutic Exercise techniques using the The McKenzie Method to appropriately identified patients with spine related conditions.
The McKenzie Method is a standardized approach to both the assessment and treatment of spine related conditions. It is not simply a set of exercises; it is a defined algorithm that serves to classify the spinal problem so that it can be adequately treated.
This therapeutic approach requires a patient to move through a series of activities to test movements that gauge the patient's pain response. This information is then used to develop an exercise protocol designed to centralize or alleviate the pain.
The McKenzie Method’s focus is unearthing a cause and effect relationship between the positions a patient usually assumes while sitting, standing, or moving and the pain that results from assuming those positions or activities on a frequent basis.
It is an internationally acclaimed method of assessment and treatment for spinal and extremity pain developed by New Zealand Physiotherapist Robin McKenzie and has been widely used all over the world for more than 30 years.
McKenzie Method clinicians are trained to assess and diagnose all areas of the musculoskeletal system.
A key feature is the initial assessment - a safe and reliable way to reach an accurate diagnosis and only then make the appropriate treatment plan. Expensive tests such as MRI’s are often unnecessary as certified clinicians can rapidly determine whether the method will be effective for each patient.
