My career path has taken several twists and turns to get to where I’ve always wanted to be: a clinician who gets his patients well using natural methods without drugs and surgery. I’ve received countless rewards from showing people how to live longer, healthier, happier lives simply by discovering the underlying issues that drive their ill health.
I witnessed first hand how the medical system fails people with chronic illness such as diabetes, neuropathies, degenerative joint disease, emotional disorders, autoimmune disorders and more after spending 14 years in the Urgent Care business. Sadly, I observed medical doctors putting patients on symptom relieving drugs while allowing their condition to worsen because the underlying issues were never addressed.
I am dedicated to bringing forth the latest advances in clinical research and technology for my patients to ensure the root cause of their condition is fully addressed and have post graduates studies in neurology, orthopedics and nutrition.
In my spare time, I enjoy life with family, flying, golf and real estate development.
Dr. Monaghan always knew he wanted to have a career where he could help other people. After finishing school and spending a few years deliberating how he could break into the medical field, he found functional medicine and functional neurology. His mother and sister both have autoimmune disorders and were suffering a great deal, while traditional medicine continued to fail them.
After they began to be treated with functional medicine by his uncle, Dr. Tom Monaghan, the course of their health began to improve and Dr. Matt was able to witness firsthand how the body can be healed naturally. He was introduced to the concepts of functional medicine and functional neurology and knew his career path had been decided.
He wanted to make sure he could help as many people as possible to get out of pain and live longer, healthier, and happier lives.
Jackie Wait has worked in a variety of areas since she first started her medical career as an RN in 1994 including pediatrics, surgical, labor and delivery, and cancer services. But her true passion lies in functional medicine and nutrition and helping others obtain their personal goals for optimal function and wellness. She believes a holistic approach is central to success by treating the whole person: body, mind and spirit. She believes that God gave our bodies great abilities to heal itself and that her job is to help the process along through the regenerative medicine procedures she uses.
Jackie went on to complete a master's degree in nursing graduating from Gardener-Webb University and obtained national certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. Fueled by the sudden and unexpected loss of her mother to leukemia in 2006, she has independently studied extensively on the subjects of nutrition, physical fitness, and functional and lifestyle medicine for the past 12 years.
In her spare time she enjoys hiking, biking, skiing, reading and spending time with her husband and four kids, trail running with her dog, and riding her equine best friend, Ruby, lovingly named after her Mom.
Carrie Heise is our amazing office manager who is also a former patient!
Carrie was diagnosed with Lyme disease when she was 12 and ADD when she was 24 and Dr. Monaghan’s treatments have enabled her body to heal and overcome the symptoms from both conditions.
A mother of two young children, Carrie was recently the Office Manager at Piedmont Wellness Center, a wholistic medical clinic, for two years. She previously worked in the financial service industry for 10 years and graduated with a BA in Business from Southeast Missouri State University.
In her spare time, Carrie enjoys Pilates, yoga, massage therapy, meditation, reading and spending time with family.
“Our goal is to help others feel the best they can, have hope and success.”
Kelly, our patient coordinator, is originally from Michigan but very proud to now be called a Southerner. She is married with three children and has always worked in the health field, with a focus on geriatric care and the health and well-being of the aging community.
Having had several health issues, Kelly started to search for the cause of her problems instead of finding the quick fixes. She believes with a healthy mind and body, you are capable of doing anything. She wants to help others live the best, healthiest, pain-free life possible.
In her spare time, Kelly enjoys being with family and friends, spending time outdoors, running, biking and hiking.
